About The Bash
Stump Dodger Bash is a Country Music event held annually at the Kickapoo Stump Dodger Campground & Event Center in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, located in the heart of the Driftless area, on the weekend closest to the 4th of July. The event is hosted by the Showen Family.
Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy two days of great entertainment! Food vendors will be on the grounds and t-shirts are available for purchase. Meet new friends and have a good time dancing to the terrific music!
The Stump Dodger Bash is a fun weekend for the entire family. Activities include volleyball, swimming, horseshoes, bean bag tournament, and, of course, plenty of great music! The natural amphitheater location provides the perfect setting for the large covered stage and festival seating for the crowd.
What is a Stump Dodger?
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, narrow gauge trains provided transportation for people and freight between small rural area communities and larger cities. The smaller trains were versatile and economical, and the tracks could be laid in locations not accessible by the standard railroad. In the Gays Mills area, many trees were cut to make room for the tracks, so locally the train was known as the Stump Dodger.
